Products Overview
For over four decades AMF Building Products has been offering custom designed, as well as standard Picket, Glass and Lateral Rail Systems to the new construction and retrofit markets. With work hard to adhere to our commitment of providing our customers with a full range of high quality products, unparalleled support, on time deliveries, and cost effective solutions.
Whether standard or custom railings, at AMF we have endless capabilities to manufacture systems and components that will deliver aesthetically pleasing features, as well as protection, safety, and durable properties. Whatever railing design you can imagine can be assembled into a "custom railing" system. We have the ability to convert ideas into functional handrails and guardrails. Applications that require guardrails by code must have a minimum 42" high railing with pickets capable of rejecting a 4" sphere, and they must meet the structural requirements of the governing code.
To achieve custom designs we use castings, posts, pickets, and caps, as well as stamped, laser cut, or CNC machined pickets. To further achieve a custom look, we can utilize spun hollow posts and pickets, special custom extrusions, and epoxy resin molded shapes. These components can be powder coated in a wide range of standard or custom colors and come 1 year, 5 year, 10 year and 20 year warranty periods depending upon coating types. Anodized finishes are available if desired.

Picket Rail Systems
Picket railing systems are the most widely specified and used, due to the fact that they are generally the most economical to fabricate and install. In addition, they can be easily upgraded to include rings, finials or cast aluminum elements which enhance visual appeal at a relatively low cost.
These systems are known as the safest of all railings because they are vertical, minimizing the possibility of climbing the picket railing system. Usually fabricated with a horizontal top cap, a horizontal bottom picket rail, vertical picket rails, and vertical posts, picket railing systems can be very aesthetically pleasing and cost effective. Lateral Rail Systems
Lateral railing systems are generally more architecturally dramatic but they also tend to be more costly to fabricate and install. Lateral systems provide a linear horizontal accent to buildings and can be specified in 2 or 3 lines for exterior D.O.T. and industrial use. Lateral systems usually consist of a series of all horizontal members spaced to the proper “sphere code” requirement forming the “infill”. The system is then supported by vertical posts spaced to meet the structural loads.

Glass Rail System
Glass railing systems are considered very high end and sophisticated. They are generally “transparent”, allowing for the other architectural features of the building to show through more clearly, with a subtle accent from the hand-railing. Glass systems usually consist of a horizontal top rail, a horizontal bottom rail to capture the glass, vertical posts to support the system and glass as the “infill”. Generally speaking, glass systems can be two side supported, four side supported or structural, whereby the glass itself provides the bulk of the load support. Glass used in either supported or structural systems must conform to current national and local building codes. Such codes generally call for glass to be laminated and/or tempered with thicknesses that can run from 7/16 inch to 3/4 inch.
